‘Kate James is such an honest, warm and generous teacher. Read this book and you’ll be learning from one of the very best.’ Clare Bowditch

‘Kate’s writing is immensely practical. Rich with compassion and insight from her many years as a therapist, her books always offer life-enhancing tools that may be applied right away. Transformational wisdom at its best!’ David Michie, author of Hurry Up and Meditate.

My View:

This is a book that you will read piece by piece, or all the way through or just some of it depending on your individual life journey and how well you know yourself already.  And you will read it again and then read it some more.

A highlight for me – Chapter Eighteen – Boost Your optimism – is one we can all easily follow.  The exercises (which actually just read as common sense), give everyday easy to actualise, guidance on practicing gratitude to balance the negative bias of the brain. “The remedy is not to supress negative experiences; when they happen, they happen.  Rather, it is to foster positive experiences – and in particular, to take them in so they became a permanent part of you.” (p166 Buddhas’ Brain, Rick Hanson). Well said. Practice makes change.

This guide – and yes, it is a guide – is full of helpful exercises, written in accessible, positive language. This is a book that I will keep by my bed and pick up and read, often, over and over. I have highlighted so many paragraphs in this book that I want to return to later.

PS I love the cover art.

My View:

This is a beautifully produced, photographed and moving read. Inspirational, meditative and calming…I am sure there is something here for most people.

This is my favourite quote from the book:

“Whatever you do, do it with your whole heart. Do it with your

whole soul. Do it with meaning. Do it with intention. Do it

with grace. Do it with lightness and do it with love. Do it with

thought. Do it with compassion and do it with kindness.” P 47

This will make a fabulous Christmas gift for someone you love.

My View:

“Today I am …A torchbearer.

I can shine my light or allow the darkness to remain.

It is a simple choice – on or off. In the light I see what is real, in the darkness imagination and fear take over. Fear causes me to view your actions with suspicion and think the worst of you.” pps. 158-159.

“Today I am…I Am

I am perfect as I am

Whatever I am.” Pp166-167.

Thoughtful, mindful reflection on the power of choice and meditation.  There is something in this pocket size book that we can all take on our journey.  Simplistic prose, multilayered meanings.  Buy this book, read it, share with your friends or family.
